Lens transplantation in Turkey. An artificial lens is a transparent plastic lens that is biocompatible with the tissues of the eye, refracting light rays.
An artificial lens (intraocular lens - IOL) is a transparent plastic lens that is biocompatible with the tissues of the eye, refracting light rays and forming an image on the retina. IOL implanted into the capsule of the lens, in the anterior or posterior chamber, as well as on the iris instead of the lens in case of clouding with cataracts, or to correct ametropia.
IOL consists of 2 parts: optical (lens) and support, which serves to fix lenses in the patient's eye.
Lenses can be monofocal and multifocal.
Modern progressive technologies are used in Turkish clinics, allowing them to carry out an operation to implant an artificial lens through small incisions, without seams, painless and less traumatic.
Like any operation, implantation of an artificial lens carries certain risks:
- infection
- increased intraocular pressure
- displacement of the IOL
- nflammation, etc.
The implantation of an artificial lens in Turkey is carried out by specialists of the highest class and is becoming more and more widespread due to the fact that cataracts are getting younger every year and the circle of potential patients is noticeably expanding.
